Proper installation of the wooden facade determines its durability, aesthetics of the building and its surroundings. Therefore, before assembling it is recommended to take a look at the basic principles developed by the manufacturer of the facade board based on their years of experience.

Storage
Facade boards should be stored in a ventilated, roofed room.

The construction of the grid (subconstruction)
For the grid structure on which facade boards are installed a cutted patch is used with section of approx. 30 x 50 mm made of the same wood and within the same moisture content as the elevation boards are made.

Patches are mounted always at 90 ° with respect to the facade board (if the facade boards are installed in a vertical manner then the patch design is laid horizontally, and vice versa). If during assembly the battens are used then the Counter-laths must be mounted at an angle of 90 ° in realtion to the board facing.

a – building wall
b – patch of wood with a thickness corresponding to the thickness of insulation
c – heat insulation
d – wind-film
e – counter-laths
f – board cladding

Structural patch is designed to bear the weight of the facade board and to withhold the forces when wood is slightly changing its dimensions and wind power. That is why a solid construction and installation of grid construction is very important.

The distance between the battens should not be greater than 60 cm. Between the board and the wall a free space of at least 20 mm must be kept. It allows air circulation under the facade boards and allows proper drying of the boards. This air gap is also a goodheat insulation of house. In the lower and upper parts of the facade gaps (holes) must be left through which air can freely circulate.

Mounting materials (screw)
For attaching construction patches to the wall and facade boards to the subconstruction, use the appropriate plugs and screws. In case of construction patches it depends on the type of basis. For fixing the facade boards stainless steel screws should be used whose length is at least two times the thickness of the mounted boards. The use of carbon steel screws in direct contact with water can lead to discoloration of wood.

Assembly
The distance of first cladding boards from the ground should be at least 30 cm. This protects the wood, among others from dirt that usually stains the boards during the rain. Facade boards designed for horizontal installation should always be installed to mount from bottom to the top. Facade boards are always installed with a tongue –and-groove to the top.

Places where the screws are intended must be pre-drilled slightly to prevent cracking of the boards. Screw head should be levelled with the plane of the board. The screws are screwed at an appropriate distance from the end boards, so as not to cause cracks of the board.

Finishing elements
We offer special laths to finish off the corners . They are easy to install and very effective. An alternative to the laths is trimming the boards on the corners at an angle of 45 ° (skilled carpenter will surely manage to do so).
